Colleen CPDT-KA

Colleen brings years of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of canine behavior to every client relationship. She is certified by CATCH Academy and the Council for Professional Dog Trainers, holds a Master’s Degree in Education, and is a certified Control Unleashed Instructor and Canine Good Citizen evaluator — a foundation that shapes her thoughtful, evidence-based approach to training.

Colleen continues to sharpen her skills where it matters most: on the ground, walking and training dogs at the local shelter. Her work there has given her particular insight into misunderstood dogs and the many possible ways to open up two way communication using positive reinforcement methods.

At Blue Dog, Colleen guides clients toward a harmonious, cooperative relationship with their dog through confident, calm, and skillful handling — always rooted in respect for the dog and empathy for the family. Her goal is simple: help you and your dog understand each other, so training feels less like a chore and more like connection.

Colleen shares her life with a 9-year-old retired show dog, a Great Dane named Sassy, and a 4-year-old shepherd mix named Sergeant (“Sargy”), who brings plenty of big feelings — and just as much enthusiasm for training and hiking.
