Here are a few frequently asked questions and answers to help you get to know us a little better.

So, what kind of company is Blue Dog Pet Care?

We are a small family company dedicated to professional, affordable in-home pet care. We

work with people and pets from all walks of life and provide custom visits and care for each of

our clients.  We do accept overnight in-home clients on a limited basis but do not provide off site

          boarding at this time.

Ok, and who runs the company?

Blue Dog Pet Care is owned and operated by Brooke and Eric Ahart.  We remain a small

company with a few seasonal employees so that we maintain a one on one relationship with

           both you and your pets.

Is Blue Dog Pet Care a member of any parent group or organization?

Yes.  While Blue Dog Pet Care is a privately owned entity, we are also proud members of Pet

Sitters International (PSI),  PSI is the largest worldwide accredidation group for pet sitters and

pet care professionals.  Being a member of this wonderful organization allows us to stay on top

of the most recent news, techniques, and inovations in the pet care industry.  As a member of

this group we are able to provide the most up to date and professional care for your animal

           friends.

Is Blue Dog Pet Care insured?

Yes.  We are fully insured against both injury and damage by Insurers if the Carolinas.  This

coverage also means that you have no worries if we are accidentally injured on your property

during a visit.  This is an added protection that your neighbor or nephew cannot offer.

Is Blue Dog Pet Care equipped to handle pets with special needs?

Yes.  Blue Dog Pet Care has experience with and gladly accomodates "special needs" pets.

Unlike many boarding type facilities, in-home care allows extended visits and special attention

for ill or elderly pets as well as a stress free environment for animals who are easily stressed in

social environments.  We also glady accomodate companions with problem behaviors that

might not be acceptable in a boarding environment.

Will my pet be in contact with other clients' pets?

No.  Unless we have a long time comfortable relationship with both pets involved and the

explicit written permission of both pet owners, your pet will never come into contact with

           another person's companion.

I have an outside dog or cat, do I need a petsitter?

Definately!  Even outdoor pets need care while you are away.  A petsitter can check your pet

once or several times throughout each day to make certain that everything is A-OK.  Outdoor

pets can become hungry and dehydrated quickly is something happens to their food or water

supply while you are not home.  Outdoor pets can also be injured in your absence and may

require medical attention.  Without a sitter, your pet might sit for days un-aided if such an event

           were to occur.

Why should I choose an in home sitter over a vet or boarding facility?

There are many reasons to choose in home care for your pet instead of boarding with a

           veterinarian or commercial facility,

Attention - While boarding facilities and vets are there to care for your animal, they are also

busy with other pets or duties and may not always be able to provide true "one-on-one" care for

your companion.  While we are in your home, however, your pets are our priority.  We

take extra time to sit and talk to your pet, provide daily walks and excercise, and play special

games or provide familiar interactions with your pet.

Pathogens - Did you realize that pets kept in any communal facility are at a higher risk of

contracting illnesses than pets kept at home?  The fewer outside pets that your companion

comes into contact with, especially during times of stress, the lower their chances of

contracting viral or bacterial illnesses such as Parvovirus, Bordetella (kennel cough), or

parasites.  We take special steps to help prevent the transfer of germs from one pet to another

and even sanitize our shoes to prevent bringing an illness into your home.

Comfort - It's as simply as our mantra, "Carpet is softer than concrete!"  Who would want to

spend their days in a metal cage or a concrete kennel when they could be flopped on the

couch.  Prolonged confinement to hard surfaces is hard on your pet's feet, skin, and joints.

Plus, everyone likes to nap near a sunny window.

Custom Care - What can we say, everything is better when it's exactly what you want!  We

build custom profiles and packages to suit the needs, pesonality, and budget of all of our

clients and their pets.  We provide an free initial meet and greet session before you book your

first service just for this purpose.  We want to get to know all of our companions and clients in

a comfortable environment before you ever book services with us.  We build a special profile for

you and your pet that we keep on file for as long as you are a client of Blue Dog Pet Care.
